Delegate Justin Marcum Vocalizes Support for House Bill 2852

Charleston, WV - The Senate will soon be considering the passage of House Bill 2852. This particular bill relates to legalizing and regulating the sale and use of fireworks. House Bill 2852 passed in the Senate, but was amended in the House and communicated for passage back in the Senate.

“I personally support House Bill 2852 as I believe it will benefit business in West Virginia,” Delegate Marcum said. “By passing this bill we will help keep individuals from going out of state to buy fireworks.”

House Bill 2852 also provides plans to allocate sales tax proceeds to build a veteran’s home and to help volunteer fire departments and describes criminal penalties if unlawful actions are taken in terms of selling or purchasing fireworks.

“Upon passage, this bill will help volunteer fire departments around the state by allocating a portion of the sales tax to help them,” Marcum said. “Ultimately it will lower insurance rates because more money will be going to volunteer fire departments.”

The House of Delegates has already amended and passed the bill and now awaits the consideration of the Senate.

“I have worked on this bill for two years and it continues to show my commitment to volunteer fire departments and veterans,” stated Delegate Marcum.
