CHARLESTON – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced today that Sue Cline of Brenton in Wyoming County has been appointed to fill the vacant Senate seat in the Ninth District.

“I am proud to welcome Sue Cline to the Senate," Senate President Bill Cole said. "Sue's outstanding reputation for hard work and community service is widely known throughout Wyoming County, and I am eager to have her strength and leadership as part of our body. Her tireless dedication to her community has made her a perfect choice to serve the residents of the Ninth District as their Senator."

Cline becomes the second woman to currently serve in the Senate, along with Senator Donna Boley, R-Pleasants.

Cline has been a Realtor with Century 21 First Choice Realty in Beckley since 2002, and was Raleigh County Realtor of the Year in 2009 and 2012. She also serves as Vice President of the Pineville Area Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of Groundwork Guyandotte Southern West Virginia, and is on the boards of the Wyoming County Planning Commission, Wyoming County Historical Museum Board, and the Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary.

“I appreciate the work of the Ninth District Senatorial Committee for their work to provide the Governor with excellent candidates," Senate President Cole said. "I sincerely appreciate the Governor making this appointment quickly so that the full Senate can move forward with doing its job for West Virginians."

Cline was married to the late Bob Cline for 48 years. She is the mother of two children, Joshua (Talina) Cline and Carla (J.C.) Cline Thomas; four grandchildren, Taylor Grace Thomas, Jackson Parker Thomas, Siara Brooke Pope, and Sophie Marie Cline; and two great-grandchildren, Denver and Eastyn Pope.

She will be sworn in Monday, January 25.
