House Education Committee Attorney, State Capitol

JOB REQUIREMENTS: House Education Committee Attorney would be responsible for providing legal assistance and counsel to House Education Committee including drafting legislation, drafting amendments, drafting bill abstracts, presenting bills to the Committee, answering questions from the Committee regarding legislation and otherwise providing legal assistance to the Chair and Committee. Responsible for interim committee meetings along with Senate Education Committee Counsel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Active member of WV State Bar with prior experience dealing with education law. Prior experience with legislative process preferred. Salary dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Software Engineer, Joint Committee on Government & Finance, State Capitol

JOB REQUIREMENTS: A self-motivated, logical, and innovative thinker who can develop and modify computer programs by converting project requirements into code. Duties include, but are not limited to, collecting work flow information, confirming project requirements, encoding project requirements, confirming project operation through tests and modifying as necessary, preparing operating instructions, documenting program development and revisions, maintaining user confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Effective oral and written communication skills; general programming skills; proficiency in Microsoft functions, with experience in Word macro creation (VBA or VB.net); attention to detail; software development fundamentals; Visual Studio experience is desired; knowledge of C++, proficiency in C#; flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing environment and priorities; ability to work under pressure; SQL, Java, and HTML knowledge; ability to work independently or with a team; PowerShell knowledge helpful; IT related degree.

Web Developer, Public Information Division, State Capitol

The Public Information Division of the West Virginia Legislature is seeking an experienced Web Developer to join our team in Charleston.  Working with the web development team, this position will develop, test, deploy and support applications and dynamic webpages for the users of the West Virginia Legislature’s website. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant work experience and knowledge in programming, database development and design.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, HTML5, CSS3, SQL & MySQL, PHP, Javascript, VBA, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS: Audio/video live streaming, Wowza streaming server, responsive development, Adobe ColdFusion, Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator), JQuery, JQuery-Mobile, ActionScript, Microsoft Server and XSLT.
