The purpose of this Bill is to increase the salaries of magistrates, family court judges, circuit court judges and supreme court justices as follows:
Supreme Court Justices effective 7/1/05 $55,000
Family Court Judges effective 7/1/05 $32,500
Circuit Court Judges effective 7/1/06 $45,000
Magistrates effective 7/1/06 Tier 1 $5,000 Tier 2 $6,375

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The above noted costs include all fringe benefits plus salaries indicated. Costs for judicial retirement for the indicated salary increses are not presently known. We are reliably informed that Mr. Harry Mandel, actuary for PERS, is available to provide information relative to the cost implications for this Bill.
