Memorandum

In reference to HCR 59 the DOH is concerned with adding an honorary name to an intersection. These are locations that require an enhanced level of attention from both a familiar and a non-familiar driver. Introducing additional signing into a complex situation is potentially distracting for the driver and could divert attention from critical decision making regarding navigation. There is also concern regarding confusion with respect to emergency response (fire, EMS, police) where routes themselves may have an honorary name then the intersection has a different honorary name. Confusion can create increased response times.
