Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

As the bill stands, it would have no fiscal impact on its own. It would only allow the West Virginia Board of Education to take action, if, when, and as it sees fit in the future. This bill would apply to 55 current employees at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind (WVSDB). If the West Virginia Board of Education were to set the pay scale for the WVSDB to align with Morgan County's pay scale it would cost approximately $130,000/year. If the West Virginia Board of Education were to set the pay scale for the WVDSB to align with Berkeley County, it would cost approximately $180,000/year. This projected pay increase is based upon professionals classified as teachers of students only and does not include principals, related service providers, related support service providers, directors, coordinators or the Superintendent.
