Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
After careful review, it does not appear that the recommended changes to this bill, as currently written, would have an immediate fiscal impact on the agency unless the Legislature recommends changes to the current number of mining districts or divisions and/or the Mine Inspectors' Examining Board determines that the work of each mine inspector or mine safety instructor is unequal & would require additonal staff.

No immediate fiscal impact
Memorandum
This bill would require the Director to consult with the Legislature when dividing the state into mining districts and divisions and in determining the number of mine inspectors and mine safety instructors reasonably neccesary to carry out the applicable provisions of Chapter 22A.
Any changes to the current agency structure could possibly have a fiscal impact on the agency.
Also, a clause has been added requiring the Director to consult with the MEIB to equalize, as far as practical, the work of each underground, electrical, or surface inspector and each mine safety instructor.
If the MEIB decided that the current workload is unequal, additional funds would be neccesary to increase staff.
