Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The legislation as drafted can be administered by existing staff and funding levels within the Division of Natural Resources’ Parks and Recreation Section and by working with existing state park and forest foundations established for this purpose. Minimum expenditures of funds for printing, promotional materials, and staff time are reflected in this fiscal note. It is difficult to predict with any degree of accuracy the potential revenue that may be received as a result of this legislation due to such factors as fluctuations of the economy, the lack of large corporate entities in many rural sections of the state, etc. The West Virginia State Parks system, however, has been the beneficiary of benevolent corporate donations over the many years of its existence including substantial donations of land, material, labor, and funding for various projects so the potential exists for continued donations.
