Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
A few years ago, the Division of Highways initiated the process of installing the florescent lime green signs on an "as replaced" basis.
We anticipate that by 2010 all school crossing signs will be replaced with the new lime green signs.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The DOH estimates that the project will require approximately 50 signs per county at a cost of $225 per sign. Upon completion of the initial installation, we estimate the total cost to be approximately $620,000 (2750 Signs X $225 ea).
The DOH estimates that we have already installed approximately 800 florescent lime green signs. With an average replacement of approximately 400 signs per year, the annual cost is estimated at $90,000 (400 Signs X $225).
