Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to allow certain parking fees to be charged for accessible handicap parking spaces in parking garages and at parking meters.
This bill also requires the Division of Motor Vehicles to renew handicap placards every five years and to provide information to the general public on handicap parking regulations.
The Division currently renews handicap placards every 5 years and provides to handicap placard applicants and the general public a brochure on the laws and associated fines.
The Division anticipates the only additional cost would be advertisements in state newspapers. This cost is estimated at $5,000.00 for a one day advertisement.
