Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


    House Bill 2005, if enacted would clarify and update alternative programs for the education of teachers. The bill adds the West Virginia Department of Education as an additional option for alternative program partner and it requires a separate program review process.In addition, the bill removes degree requirements in certain disciplines and requirements for minimum semester hours.The bill also removes specific requirements for mentors and requires professional a support team to be set forth in a program plan. Options for charges to offset costs are permitted by the proposed legislation.
    
    No additional costs to higher education are anticipated from the enactment of this legislation.
