Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Senate Bill 479, if enacted would provide veterans with vocational certification or licensure or college credit for military training and experience that is close to what they would gain in the educational setting.
To comply with the provisions of the legislation, the Community College System would hire an additional staff member to administer the articulation process for military training and experience. The annual salary and benefit costs associated with this position would be approximately $80,000.
It is anticipated that the institutions under the jurisdiction of the Higher Education Policy Commission would not require additional funding because each institution would administer the program for its students.
