Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The Landfill Closure Cost Assistance Fund (22-16-12) is funded through landfill fees collected from the tonnage of solid waste received in the State's recognized and licensed landfill operations. The current annualized fees received and deposited into this fund is $6.6 millon. The estimated costs and timetable to begin work on the Elkins-Randolph and Webster County landfills are as follows:
FY15 FY16 FY17 FY18 FY19
(Design Costs)
Elkins-Randolph $150,000 - - $4,000,000 $3,447,308
Webster $300,000 $1,000,000 $245,650 - -
---------- ---------- -------- ---------- -----------
$450,000 $1,000,000 $245,650 $4,000,000 $3,447,368
Focus would be on Webster County for FY16 and FY17 and focus on the Elkins-Randolph Landfill would be in FY18 and FY19.
The costs of landfill closures for the Elkins-Randolph County and Webster County will be included in any and all projected LCAP Projected Closure Cost Reports and work will begin as funds become available.
