The change in legislation to require write-in candidates to paid 25% of the filing fee will increase revenue as much as $19,955 in presidential election years and as much as $1,405 in off year elections. There will be little to no cost increase due to the legislation

Used actual number of write-in candidiates for years 2008, 2010 and 2012 and applied the 25% of the filing fee, the estimated revenue was computed. The results are below:

If the write-in filing fee would have been in place in the previous years of 2008, 2010, and 2012, the number of write-in candidates may have been lower than the number used in the estimate.
