Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

- Relocation costs: The estimated increase of $500 per claim is based upon fifty claims per year, for a total of $25,000. - Travel to parole hearings: The estimate is for twenty claims per year at the statutory maximum of $1,000, for a total of $20,000. - Claims filed for loss of student loans: This is extremely speculative. For five claims filed per year, at an estimate of $4,000 per year would equal $20,000.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

This measure will have very little impact on costs of state government because the Crime Victims Compensation Fund, a special revenue fund, is solvent. The Court of Claims receives a federal grant of approximately 60% of the prior year total awards. This measure will have absolutely no impact on revenues of state government.
