Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the minimum proof of financial responsibility in motor vehicle insurance coverage while minimizing administrative burdens on insurers.
As written, the Department of Health and Human Resources does not estimate any fiscal impact from the proposed legislation.
The Department's Bureau for Medical Services uses subrogation, however, it is limited to medical claim expenses and are further negotiated. The Department cannot determine with certainty whether expanding the policy limits would increase subrogation collections.
