Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Memorandum
The Justice Center recommended that the Supreme Court adopt a standardized risk and needs assessment tool to be used by probation officers to assist circuit judges when imposing sentences. Upon receiving notice of the Justice Center's recommendation, the Supreme Court of Appeals adopted the "LSCMI" risk and needs assessment tool and is in the process of training all probation officers for proper implementation. Any costs associated with this recommendation is included the the supreme court budget request for the upcoming fiscal year.
