Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to add "sexual orientation" to the categories covered by the Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination in employment and places of public accommodation. There should be no fiscal impact to the State of West Virginia with the passage of the bill as it simply adds "sexual orientation" to the list of protected classes of individuals who can not be discriminated against. However, a fiscal note request should be sent to the Human Rights Commission as it may impact their office if they forsee an increase in complaints they must investigate.
