Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The purpose of this bill is to remove the salary of the Executive Director of the Women's Commission from Statute and allow the salary to be set by the Commission. The current salary of the Executive Director is $45,000.00. The Department of Administration does not know what salary the Commission would set for the Executive Director. Therefore, the Department of Administration can not determine the fiscal impact to the State with the passage of this bill.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

The Division of Personnel reviewed the duties of the Executive Director of the Women's Commission and determined that the appropriate pay grade would be a pay grade 20, which has a salary of $41,736 - 77,220. However, the position is exempt from the classified service so the Commission does not have to follow the Division of Personnel's recommended pay grade. Additionally, once the position is taken out of Statute, the Executive Director would begin accruing annual and sick leave, would be eligible for annual increment pay, would be eligible for any across the board raises enacted by the Legislature in the future, and would be eligible for discretionary increases.

Memorandum

The Department of Administration is unable to determine the fiscal impact to the State with the passage of this bill due to the reasons outlined above.
