Before a fiscal note can be prepared, there are certain areas in this proposed legislation that need clarified. 1) There are three references in this legislation (listed below) to the proposed lab employee salary increase. Clarification is needed as to the intended recipients of the $10,000 enhancement: a)-Paragraph 1, pg. 1 refers to increasing the salary of “forensic lab employees” (which would include administrative support staff) b)Pages 5-6, Uniform Member “Trooper” classifications of “Criminalists” are modified to include a $10,000 increase (This would currently only affect 2 employees). It also creates a pay disparity with the statutory pay schedules for “Supervisory & Nonsupervisory Ranks” as well as the “Administrative Support Specialist” classifications. c)Page 11, paragraph i - refers to this increase applying to “forensic lab tech”, a title/classification we do not have at our agency. Is the intent to provide a salary increase for those classified as a “forensic analyst”? 2) Paragraph i: Is the intent of this legislation to provide a $4,000 salary increase for the affected lab staff in addition to the $10,000?
