The purpose of this bill is to provide an additional $5,000 in state minimum salary to fully certified math and science teachers in grades seven through twelve and to fully certified reading specialists.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Because the additional $5,000 becomes part of the state minimum salary for the qualifying individuals, this bill will increase the amount of state aid to county boards of education under the Public School Support Program (PSSP). The estimated increase under PSSP is $25,712,672, which consists of an increase to salaries, fringe benefits, current expenses and retirement.
