HB2062 requires the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection to initiate a study, with the School of Public Health at West Virginia University, for the purpose of studying the human and environmental health impacts of shale gas development. DEP estimates that this study will cost $450,000 per year in order to provide the high level of expected research and reporting required. The on-going nature of this proposed legislation will result in this cost annually. With a projected begin date of May 1, DEP has estimated two months expense in 2013.
