The Department of Agriculture (WVDA) will not be responsible for day-to-day enforcement of this legislation. Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

Under the day-to-day operation and enforcement of the Exotic Animal Act, the Department of Agriculture (WVDA) will not incur any expense, nor generate any revenue for the Exotic Animal Fees Fund established by this legislation. In the event disease was detected in an exotic animal(s), WVDA would incur expense for the disease outbreak response and follow-up surveillance. This expense would include personal services for field and laboratory staff time, travel, supplies, contracted services (equipment rental, disposal fees, etc.), indemnity to owners of affected livestock (if any), and other costs associated with an emergency response. The total cost would vary with the severity and duration of the disease response activities. Memorandum
