Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


This bill provides that all magistrates, magistrate assistants, magistrate court clerks and deputy clerks be paid equally. This bill will eliminate the two-tier system. The 2010 Census notes a decrease in population for Lewis, McDowell, Wetzel and Wyoming Counties. West Virginia Code requires the salaries of the magistrate court personnel in these four counties to be decreased January 1, 2013.
