Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


Based on the U.S. Department of Defense there are 225 Active Duty Military Spouses in the WV Labor Force. Of that 225, 51.5% or 116 spouses are employed based on information from Office of the Deputy Under the Secretary of Defense Installation and Environment. Of these 116 spouses only 13% are dual-military. This leaves 100 spouses of Active duty military to be privately employed. Based on information obtained from the U.S. Department of Defense, Office of the Deputy Assistant approximately 10% of military personnel relocate in any given year. We conclude from this that 10 additional claims would be possibe in any year. The average weekly benefit amount for each additional claim is $256.19. This would increase our benefits by $41,500 in the first year the bill is signed using the average duration of 16.2 weeks of benefits paid. The total Maximum Benefit per claim is $4,150.
