SENATE AMENDMENT PROVIDES FOR AN INCREASE IN FUNERAL AND BURIAL EXPENSE FROM $7,000 TO $10,000.
The Crime Victims Compensation Fund receives a yearly Federal grant based upon 60% of awards made by the Court.
There are sufficient funds available now and in the future fiscal years to cover the cost of this improvement.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Purpose is to raise the maximum award for funeral and burial expenses from $7,000 to $10,000. Only a minimal number of funeral and burial claims will be over $7,000 so the increase will be less than the estimated provided.
