Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to conform West Virginia law concerning the issuance and maintenance of commercial driver’s licenses with federal law and rule. The focus of these changes is to codifying requirements that CDL drivers maintain current medical certification that they meet minimum federal medical standards for operating commercial motor vehicles as well as prohibit drivers from texting when operating a commercial motor vehicle. This bill has no fiscal impact upon the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles.
