Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill partially replaces a revenue stream from a tax on Synthetic Fuels which expired in 2007 that was used for operation of WVDEP Mining Division. The bill provides an estimated $1.6 million per year in new revenue for operation of WVDEP's Mining Division. The WVDEP anticipates submission of additional legislation in the future to further address the Mining Division's funding needs in light of the expiration of the Synthetic Fuel tax. The Synthetic Fuel tax provided approximately $4 million per year.
