Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The purpose of this bill is to remove the provisions that refer to the expiration of subsection (c) which expired June 30, 2010. That subsection permits a retired person to accept employment as a substitute teacher in areas of critical need and shortage for an unlimited number of days each fiscal year without affecting monthly retirement benefits.
The estimated cost to the State through the Public School Support Program for this proposal for the 2011-12 year is $0.
