Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to create a compulsory comprehensive health screening for students entering public school for the first time in this state and students entering third grade, sixth grade and ninth grade.
As written, this legislation will have minimal fiscal impact on the Department of Health and Human Resources, as the Medicaid budget already includes amounts for comprehensive exam coverage for all ages. Therefore, no amounts for those exams are reflected in this fiscal note. The cost of these services for uninsured children is being funded by the WV Children's Health Insurance Program.
