Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Senate Bill 109, if approved, would waive tuition and fees for courses taken by State Police Officers at publically funded West Virginia state colleges and universities. The average resident undergraduate tuition and fees for a three-hour undergraduate course is $624. The waiver would not include books, parking, and other special fees which may be assessed.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
According to the West Virginia State Police, there are approximately 600 officers in the field. If five percent take advantage of the proposed fee waiver by attending one three-hour course each semester, the waived tuition and fee revenue for one academic year would be approximately $37,440.
