Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to extent PEIA health care insurance coverage for pregnancy related conditions to covered spouses and dependents.
Presently PEIA health care benefits do not include providing coverage for dependents other than the spouse of PEIA members. Providing the coverage set in this legislation will increase medical and pharmacy costs to the PEIA health insurance plan.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Increased costs are a reflection of paying for benefit delivery that is not presently provided. The total expected increase in the next fiscal years will be $ 7,000,000.00. PEIA medical health care costs are presently trending at approximately 10% per year so costs for delivery of this benefit will probably continue to increase after the next three years. These estimates were compiled by CCRC Actuaries, a content
The costs to cover this additional benefit would either have to come in additional appropriation from the General Revenue Fund or by increasing PEIA premiums to both the employees and employers.
