As the sole purpose of this bill is to eliminate an inconsistency with regard to the number of years a state employee must serve before becoming eligible to receive an annual salary increase, there is no direct impact on the costs and revenues of state government.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
As the sole purpose of this bill is to eliminate an inconsistency with regard to the number of years a state employee must serve before becoming eligible to receive an annual salary increase, there is no direct impact on the costs and revenues of state government.
Memorandum
Some of the language removed to eliminate the inconsistency references the July 1, 2008 effective date of the change in the annual increment increase from fifty dollars to sixty dollars. If it is still the Legislature's intent to make this change effective July 1, 2008, then language should be added to the statute to do so or, on passage, the bill should be made effective July 1, 2008.
