Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Based on 2007 Fiscal Year Regional Jail Authority's inmate statistics, there were 10,887 inmates that were incarcerated 12 hours or less.
10,887 inmates x $47.53 (FY 2009 per diem rate/per day) = $517,459 revenue.
$517,459 divided by 2 (for a half day) = $258,730 in loss revenue.
The net result of this bill will cause an estimated annual loss of $258,730 in revenue for Fiscal Year 2009 and there after, as well as, an projected increase in the Regional Jail Authority's per diem rate for FY 2010 in the amount of 18 cents. This increase would be passed along to the State, Counties and Municipalities paying the per diem.
