Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Expanding the DEP's oversight to include smaller tire aggregations of 25 to 100 will not significantly increase the overall costs of remediation. The DEP identifies about 120 sites annually that would fall under the purview of the proposed expansion. The approximately 6,500 tires cumulatively identified represents a smaller total than that typically associated with a single large-scale cleanup operation.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
As progress is made in remediating the larger tire dumps, priority would likely shift in subsequent years to smaller ones, for which resources could be reallocated.
