Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this amendment is to add Salem University to the list of eligible institutions that accept PROMISE scholarship recipients. Currently, some for-profit institutions of higher education, such as the Salem University, are not permitted to participate in the Promise Scholarship program; however, the fiscal impact of including this institution in the program is not expected to be significant. Promise Scholarship funding follows the student, and not the institution, so a scholarship recipient would still receive the same amount of funding, regardless of which institution they choose to attend.
