Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to set minimum standards for Alzheimer's and dementia care training for staff, employees, and contractors that come in regular and direct contact with residents at adult day care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and residential care communities. Additionally, the bill establishes an Alzheimer's Disease Registry within West Virginia University to act as a central information database for policy and planning and training development relative to Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.
The Department estimates that the cost for development of rules related to this bill would be minimal and therefore would be at no additional cost. Additionally, the Department cannot determine the fiscal impact of the resulting rules, until such time as the rules are developed and defined. That portion of the legislation establishing the Alzheimer's Disease Registry would not increase costs to the Department, as the responsibility for that aspect of the legislation would reside with West Virginia University.
