Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

This legislation, in its current form, does not have any fiscal impact on the WVDE. However, this legislation would likely have a positive impact for the various county boards of education. Allowing teachers to attend these training courses upon employment and every three years thereafter, rather than annually, provides more time for teachers to attend other training that prepares them to be successful in the classroom. Specifically, teachers will have more time to focus on important initiatives recently enacted by the Legislature such as the Science of Reading, Unite with Numeracy, and early dyslexia detection.
