Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to create the "Hunger-Free Campus Act," which requires the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission to establish a grant program to address food insecurity among students enrolled in public institutions of higher education. The bill would create a $1 million grant program and would require institutions of higher education to use existing resources to establish food pantries and campus meal plan sharing programs. The bill would require an appropriation of $1 million to establish the grant fund.
