Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill merely requires that the Supreme Court establish uniform procedures for repayment in criminal and other cases wherein an "adverse judgment" has been rendered against the defendant.
Read in para materia with S.B. 725, it appears that the guidelines do not affect the current requirement that repayment can only be ordered in cases wherein "undue hardship" does not result.
There is no way for Public Defender Services to estimate cost savings until guidlines are written; even then, it may be virtually impossible to estimate savings until some experience in actual collections is established.
