Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to create seven new registration plates and establish fees for the special plates. This bill will require that each organization sell 100 plates before production can begin. A special plate recognizing he Boy Scouts in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fees. Current law rquires the organization have a minimum of 100 prepaid applications before DMV may begin production A special plate recognizing the Eagle Scouts in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fees. Current law requires the organization have a minimum of 100 prepaid applications before DMV may begin production. A special plate recognizing the Lions International in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fees. Current law requires the organization have a minimum of 100 prepaid applications before DMV may begin production. A special plate recognizing Coal Miners in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. Any West Virginia resident may apply for this plate. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fees. A special plate recognizing Registered Nurses in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fee. A special plate recognizing Licensed Practical Nurses in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fees. A special plate recognizing Organ Donor's in West Virginia will be authorized by this bill. Any West Virignia resident may apply for this plate. A one time fee of $10.00 and an annual fee of $15.00 will be charged. These fees are in addition to the normal annual registration fees. This fiscal note is based on all of these plates generating at least 100 applicants. With the growing number of plates available, it may be difficult to generate the minimum level of interest to make the estimates contained in this fiscal note. The total revenue generated by this bill is $28,000 for the first year and $10,500 in subsequent years. The cost to issue 700 plates is $9,450.
