Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to require that registered sex offenders be issued a special driver's liecnse that identifies the license holder as being a sex offender.
The Division of Motor Vehicles would be required to provide the license holder with a driver's liecnse that contained markings indicating the person is a sex offender. The Division of Motor Vehicles utilizes a digital driver's license system that will allow the Division to add different endorsements and/or markings to a driver's license.
The Division estimates the cost to program the system to add sex offender endorsement to be a one time charge that should not exceed $10,000.
The bill will also require that the offender pay a fee of $5.00 for having the sex offender license made.
