Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The purpose of this bill is to provide insurance coverage for GLP-1 class medications with a valid script. Although PEIA is not currently impacted by this bill due to its reference to Chapter 33 entities only, it is providing an estimate. PEIA interprets this bill to require coverage of GLP1 prescriptions for the treatment of obesity. Assuming a 41.40% obesity rate and a net cost of $499 per prescription at 30% utilization would increase PEIA costs $13.5 million per month and $162 million annually.
