Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to provide health insurance coverage for scalp cooling systems for the preservation of hair during cancer chemotherapy treatment. In January 2026, Medicare adopted permanent codes for scalp cooling systems. Due to PEIA’s policy to follow Medicare guidelines if there are no PEIA policies to the contrary, this bill will have no fiscal impact as it is now deemed a covered service by PEIA.
