Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Please explain increases and decreases in personal services, current expenses, repairs and alterations, assets, other costs and revenues, including assumptions and data sources and delineation between start-up and ongoing costs. Please also include a long-range schedule of costs and revenues if fiscal impact is expected to vary in future years.
According to the Consolidated Public Employees Retirement Board, there are 1,075 active Deputy Sheriffs in the WV Deputy Sheriffs Retirement System.
Therefore, the cost of a $5,000 pay raise per fiscal year would be calculated as follows:
1,075 deputies x $5,000 = $5,375,000 for salaries.
$5,375,000 x 7.65% FICA employer match = $411,188
$5,375,000 x 17% Retirement employer match = $913,750
Total cost $6,699,938 per fiscal year.
