This committee substitute increases graduation requirements for students by requiring students to earn a 1/2 credit in computer science.
This legislation, in its current form, does not have any fiscal impact on the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) or the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE); however, it may have fiscal implications for county boards of education if it determined that additional personnel is necessary to teach computer science. County boards of education have the discretion to reorganize existing staff or employ additional staff to meet student needs.
