Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to require insurance providers to provide diagnostic and supplemental breast examinations without cost sharing. PEIA currently provides screening mammograms every one to two years for women over 40 at no cost. When billed with a medical diagnosis applicable coinsurance and deductible apply. This bill will require no cost sharing for these services. This will increase PEIA costs. Assuming a 15% increase in utilization due to no cost sharing, PEIA would see an increase of $160,000 in claim costs.
