Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to authorize the commissioner to issue special plates to recipients of the distinguished Medal of Valor awarded under ยง29-32-1 of this code to firefighters, law-enforcement officers, and emergency medical services personnel.
Expenses to implement the legislation will consist of cash register programming of $1,875 (15 hours x $125 per hour). In addition, registration plates will cost the Division $7.25 per plate. Currently there are 11 Medal of Valor recipients and each recipient can receive two plates. Plate charges $159.50 ( $7.25 plate charge X 22 plates)
In the first year additional revenue of $110 (11 X $10 second plate charge) would be generated. The Division estimates that 4 new recipients would be awarded each year. This would generate $40(4 X $10 second plate charge) in subsequent years.
