Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This legislation, in its current form, requires the West Virginia State Superintendent to be paid a salary equal to the average of the annual salary of the equivalent of state superintendent of school positions in each of the five border states (Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
If enacted, this legislation would result in an increase to the West Virginia State Superintendent's salary from $230,000.00 to $246,666.12.

Additionally, Section (2) of the proposed legislation provides that the salary adjustment is effective upon the effective date of the amendment to the section; therefore, $2777 represents two months that may be remaining in FY25 if the legislation is enacted in its current form.
