Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This fiscal note is impossible to provide an exact figure due to all inmates' stay vary greatly from Court to Court/County to County. Some could be in a month then convicted/sentenced, while others might remain for years before conviction. In Fiscal year 2024 WVDCR billed counties a total of $47,316,214. We have a conservative estimate that we would have to reimburse counties the sum of $42,570,000.00 or 90%.

In Fiscal year 2024 WVDCR billed counties a total of $47,316,214. We have a conservative estimate that we would have to reimburse counties the sum of $42,570,000.00 or 90%.
We randomly took (2) sentencing orders.
I have 2 examples I just multiplied those days by $54.48 to be conservative.
